COURSE DESCRIPTION


The Astro Pi Challenge Prep Course inspires students to engage in real-world coding challenges by creating and running programs on Raspberry Pi computers aboard the International Space Station (ISS). The course prepares participants for both Mission Zero and Mission Space Lab, combining Python programming, scientific experimentation, and space-inspired problem-solving. With flexible one-on-one or group sessions spanning 15–40 hours, the course provides tailored support for entries into the Astro Pi Challenge. An achievement in this competition enhances personal statements and strengthens university applications, particularly for competitive Computer Science or Engineering courses at top institutions like Oxford and Cambridge.


WHO CAN ENROL ON THIS COURSE?


This course is ideal for UK and European students aged 7–19 who:


  1. Want to participate in the Astro Pi Challenge (Mission Zero or Mission Space Lab).

  2. Have a passion for coding, space science, and hands-on experimentation.

  3. Aspire to gain practical programming experience with real-world applications.


PREREQUISITES FOR THIS COURSE


  1. Basic knowledge of computers and interest in coding.

  2. Familiarity with Python programming.
